  • Building profile of small arts organisation within South East London music scene

In March 2019 I joined ArtsTrain, an award winning creative music programme based in Bromley, and an Arts Council England National Portfolio Organisation. I was given a broad scope to improve their social media channels and build their profile on a local and industry-wide scale. I soon developed a strategy for putting young people at the centre of ArtTrain’s digital content. While its producers were brilliant at speaking to an ACE audience, I wanted to connect ArtsTrain’s purpose (of improving wellbeing through music for young people), with its online presence. I worked on establishing a new tone of voice for the programme, as well as relaunching its website.

One of my key responsibilities was to extract and share the most striking aspects of the project in order to communicate ArtsTrain’s work to a wider audience of young people. Working with the programme organisers, I began collecting quotes and feedback from young people to centre their thoughts in all of ArtsTrain’s social media and blogs. We identified participants who could run Instagram takeovers for recording and performance days, and we created blogs with original photography to bring the project to life for new participants. Regular posting on social media meant I was able to provide context for ArtsTrain’s array of wellbeing programmes. A highlight every year is documenting the workshops and preparation for the young people’s annual London Jazz Festival performance.
